The Dengue Sentinel Surveillance Program
The Challenge: The increasing frequency and intensity of seasonal Dengue fever outbreaks in dense urban centers like Dhaka posed a significant threat to public health and the economy.
Our Approach: We established a network of "sentinel" clinics and labs in high-risk areas to provide real-time data on suspected Dengue cases. This data feeds into a predictive model our team developed to forecast potential outbreaks 2-3 weeks in advance.
Key Outcomes:
Launched a public-facing early-warning dashboard showing real-time risk levels by neighborhood.
Provided weekly risk assessment briefs to city public health officials to guide resource allocation for prevention efforts.
Status: Ongoing
